Athangudi Tiles are from Chettinad region. Athangudi is a village of the Chettinad region in Tamil Nadu which is now very famous for tiles. The traditional mode of production continues till date, maintaining a legacy and grandeur. Athangudi tiles are basically cement tiles like mosaic, but unlike the machine pressed and produced mosaics, they are handmade over glass surfaces.
During the early days of their production, they were patronised more by the rich, being a costlier option and newer technology in those days. However, they also deserve an additional honour for being a part of the cultural heritage of the Chettiar community.
The affluent Chettiar community brought home ideas and artefacts from their trade travels, resulting in European and Asian items finding their way to Chettinad. I think they are more similar to the moroccan tiles with mix of little middle east culture.
Personally, I am very fond of the rich Chettinad culture, their house interiors reflecting mixture of various country cultures, hence showcasing the Athangudi Tiles depicting the true chettinad culture.

Pochampally Sarees or Pochampalli Ikat is a saree made in Boodhan Pochampally, Nalgonda district,Andhra Pradesh, India. They are popular for their traditional geometric patterns in Ikat style of dyeing. The intricate geometric design find their way into the hands of skillful weavers and make it to the market as beautiful sarees and dress material.
Basking under the glory on par with the weaves of other places (Such as Kanchi, Dharmavaram, Gadwal, Venkatagiri etc.), Pochampally weave is popularly known as ikkat or tie and dye weave. The uniqueness lies in the transfer of design and colouring onto warp and weft threads first and then weave them together. The fabric is cotton, silk and sico – a mix of silk and cotton. Increasingly, the colours themselves are from natural sources and their blends.
Pochampally has traditional looms, whose design is more than a century-old. Today this Silk City is home to more than 10000 weaving families in 100 villages.

One of the oldest known fruits, found in writings and artifacts of many cultures and religions, the pomegranate (punica granatum) is an original native of Persia. This nutrient dense, antioxidant rich fruit has been revered as a symbol of health, fertility and eternal life. Lets discuss some beauty and health benefits of Pomegranate.
Beauty Benefits:
Anti-Ageing Benefits:
Pomegranates have anti-ageing properties and can rejuvenate your skin internally as well as externally. The oil from the seeds found in the fruit helps strengthen the epidermis (outer layer of your skin), which reduces or delays wrinkles.
Beauty Tip: Drink a glass of pomegranate juice daily for glowing skin.
Pimples at Bay:
The root cause of pimples is the hormonal imbalance in your body. Pomegranates are a rich source of Vitamin C which regulates the production of sebum, an oily substance secreted by your skin and which is the main cause of pimples.
Beauty Tip: If you want to enjoy the skin care benefits of pomegranates then mix pomegranate seeds (1tbsp) with some brown sugar (2tbsp) , honey (2tbsp), avocado oil (2tbsp) and orange peel (1tsp) to make a scrub. Use it daily for a few minutes for best results.
New Cell Generation:
As you age, you come face-to-face with problems such as skin pigmentation and age spots. This is when, pomegranates act like your knight in shining armour, protecting you from skin damage. Pomegranates help in the production of naturally occurring anti-oxidants produced by your body, which help in regeneration of skin cells.
Beauty Tip: Kick start your day on a healthy note by making a pomegranate smoothie. Mix half a cup of pomegranate juice with some berries of your choice and 2 tablespoons of yoghurt.
Health Benefits:
Lowers Blood Pressure:
Rich in antioxidants, pomegranates can helping to keep bad cholesterol from oxidizing and preventing atherosclerosis. They are also associated with lowering blood pressure levels.
Good for Heart:
Studies show that drinking eight ounces of pomegranate juice daily for three months increased oxygen flow to the heart muscle in coronary patients while several other studies have found that cardiovascular health improves with the use of pomegranate juice since it reduces plaque, increases nitric oxide and may prevent plaque from building in the arteries in some patients.
Highly beneficial for people suffering from heart disorders, even going as far as preventing heart attacks and strokes.
Can recover from Brain Damage:
Researchers have proved that maternal intake of pomegranate juice can protect the neonatal brain from damage after an injury.
Alzheimers and Osteoarthritis:
Pomegranate consumption can prevent and even slow down Alzheimer’s disease. It prevents cartilage deterioration and keeps osteoarthritis at bay.
Can be used as ToothPowder:
Powder of the dry rind mixed with pepper and common salt can be used as a toothpaste or powder. Regular application strengthens the gum, stops bleeding, prevents pyorrhea and cleans the teeth.
For Gastric and Asthma:
The fruit juice consumed with a little saffron is useful to quench thirst in fever. A sherbet of the ripe fruit is used to treat gastric and asthmatic fevers.
Controls Diarrhoea:
The pomegranate has astringent properties that cause cells to shrink. A person suffering from profuse purging can be given about 50ml of pomegranate juice repeatedly to control diarrhoea.
Increases Immunity:
The pomegranate is good for the heart, the stomach, liver; it is a coolant and alleviates fever. It also increases the body`s resistance against infections.
